The first level of the Tomorrowland Planet Center is filled with many activities for all sorts of guests. Educational and fun, there are so many space-themed adventures and experiences to be had here that you can probably spend half a day doing everything! However, no matter how long guests spend here, they will surely enjoy every unique selection, as well as the theming to go with the Tomorrowland steam punk feeling. LED lights will illuminate the building in some areas, while in others it is kept dark like space. So stick around and read about what is here to be offered!
Planet Center Interactive Activities
Space Race- "Space Race" is one of the more predictable activities here and most similar to those of current day Innoventions. At "gaming" style machines (similar to the car racing game at Project: Tomorrow), guests can play by pressing the start, and holding on tightly to the steering wheel. The simulation of the game is that players are in space, and can fly through space to make it to another planet. Watch out for meteorites though!
The Adventure of a Lifetime- This is not so much an activity, but more a station that has several artifacts set up. Here, guests can see real life (used) astronaut suits, artifacts from Spaceships/NASA, and even Moon rocks which guests can get up close with and feel. Each item has a brief plaque describing its significance. While not quite as "exciting" as other activities, this is a very informative and fascinating station, especially for history/space buffs.
Live Presentation Stage- This is a stage, located behind the escalators, used to host a daily show inside Planet Center. This show is called "An Astronaut's Story", and is hosted by, you guessed it, a real lie astronaut. This person (still TBD) will go live for 15 minutes at 2:00 and 3:00 sharing his stories of the adventure into space, from how he trained, what take-off was like, and how it felt to be in space, as well as some informative facts about space travel. At the end of the show, the astronaut will invite one lucky young boy or girl from the audience up to the stage who dreams about becoming an astronaut. He will talk to this kid, and even joke around a bit, and before he send them back, they will get their very own badge saying "Space Explorer!" that they can wear the rest of their trip, and beyond! This show, whether young or old, will be considered and incredible and must-see part of the Planet Center.
Journey- "Journey" is a new interactive activity that allows guests to come the closest possible to travel through space! Here, visitors can sit in a reclined leather chair, two per seat, and direct a steering remote that flies them through space. There will be a screen in front of them to pull off this illusion. They will travel through a specific-detail CGI recreation of our solar system, and get up close and personal with all of the planets and moons. They can use a pointer to click on a moon, star, or planet for an information passage to come up. In addition to the information about each part of space available to read, guests can also learn by having the famous Judi Dench narrator of Spaceship Earth talk about space! Where ever you decide to go, this will be quite the exciting adventure!
Milky-way Model- This is exactly like what it sounds! Visitors can walk around this ginormous, scale model of the (huge) Sun, Earth, Jupiter, and everything in between and around it! In addition, the planets will be constantly revolving to add to the kinetic energy of the area.
The Space Station- The Space Station is an immerisve, detailed recreation of the Space Station currently out in outer space. While it isn't a complete recreation (as in it is smaller), guests will get an exciting glimpse about where astronauts can live and do their work. There are even windows guests can look through and see a suddenly minuscule Earth from up above, using the VIS technology.
Zero Gravity- This room, directly next to The Space Station, is an incredible experience, completely unlike any other guests can go to, called "Space Life". This is a zero-gravity simulation. Using practice technology from NASA, combined with the special effect magic of Disney, guests can actually enter a room that create the feeling of weightlessness. 10 at a time are allowed in the room, and they have three minutes before the next group enters. Like Sum of all Thrills at Epcot having long lines due to how exciting it is, "Space Life" is expected to have extremely long waits.
Planet Center Observatory- The Planet Center Observatory is the gift kiosk located near the entrance to the building. It sells one-of-a-kind memorabilia from the Planet Center, as well as special Tomorrowland merchandise. The perfect place to pick up a pin or magnet to commemorate their incredible journey!
